Intro Avalanche Awareness & Skills

Based at Glencoe Mountain, these sessions will provide solid, useful, practical and enjoyable info and education on avalanche safety and skills, also looking at snowpack and the equipment required to reduce your risk whilst in the Scottish winter mountains.

Transceivers and avi kit will be provided or bring your own if you have it. More info:

  • Sessions will be held on the hill area at the top of the access chair
  • You will need a chairlift ticket but a ski pass is not required
  • Wear winter hill gear & suitable footwear for walking on snow and rough ground
  • The course is not delivered on skis
  • No ice axe or crampons are required

NEW: Intro to STEEP SKIING

Want to feel more confident tackling the steeper pitches on the mountains? This is a piste-based session but will introduce skills relevant for steeper ski-ing anywhere. You must be a confident intermediate/red run skier to take part.

Morning or afternoon sessions are available and will last approximately two hours. Bring your own equipment or you can hire from Glencoe Mountain Resort. Lift pass not included in the price. Meeting point is the top of the access chair.

£12 per person

Backcountry Sessions / Intro to Touring

Glen Coe backcountry journey sessions with qualified guides and safety/best practice tips along the way. Athletes from The North Face will be part of the team.

Strictly limited numbers. You must provide your own touring kit (skis/splitboard) and be a competent skier or snowboarder – some off-piste experience is preferable but as a minimum you must be a comfortable red run skier. Lift pass not included – details of pass requirements will be emailed.

£20 per person
